    You have to put at least one foot of the pole into the ground. That leaves 5 feet of pole above ground. It's a known fact that squirrels can jump upward a distance of five feet. Therefore, squirrels caqn jump up to the feeder and eat the seed out of it, even with a baffle as the baffle does not stick out enough to block the squirrel's jump.
